Well, it has been one week. Since my last blog and the home is starting to fit. I am not trying to be ungrateful but it takes awhile to develop ownership on something you don't own. we didn't pick anything in the house we just walked into it. It is still very surreal when we actually sit down and rethink the whole process. Again, I am amazed and overwhelmed by the generosity of those who spent 4 entire days and nights trying to do this wonderful thing for my family. On the plus side, our big give came in #2 in the country for the biggest gives. Truly amazing what a community can do when they are so inspired. But today, we are back to reality. Laundry on the couch, a fine sheen of dust, floors that need to be swept and bathrooms cleaned. Well, I guess dirt waits for no man/woman. Thank you all for your generous comments about our family. Someone suggested we write a book entitled "It Takes a Thillage". What do you think? Anyway, the truth is we wouldn't be who we are today without Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in our lives. You have all given us a base of example in which we have been able to shape our lives. Thank you for the constant support and guidance in our lives. Without some of your great examples and for us learning through YOUR teachings our lives would have taken a much different turn. There is more news to share but you will have to wait until a few times from now when I can. By the way, we have another adoption coming up on May 9 at 12:30pm in American Fork court. Then, we will have 2 baptisms: 1 for Jacob, 1 for Jonathan then a temple sealing. We will let you all know of the dates.

Well, I have to say this week has been unbelievable! The crews have left and today has been the most normal day of the last couple of weeks. We have been trying to find all of our things as they were shoved into the neighbors garage. We are so thankful for the Heart2Home foundation, Foote construction, utahmasonary.com, Lowe's, Old Navy, Kohl's, Centurion security systems, overstock.com, pottery barn and many more. It has been overwhelming and extremely generous of all the support we have been given. So many people donated their time to make our house so amazingly beautiful. There is nothing in our home that is original. We got new things from top to bottom. From new linens to furnace and central air and everything in between. It is truly remarkable. We have also been interviewed over and over. On Monday, we were on a local news program called Good Things Utah. That was really fun too. Our trip to the Rockin R Ranch in Antimony, Utah was a blast. The people were so fantastic! The horses were great too! Now, we are working on normalacy. I will post some pictures soon. We have literally had to find everything! I will download our camera as soon as I find the cords. Thank you for all of your love and support.

Well, it is tuesday. We are very busy. As usual though it seems like it is normal everyday things. I started substitute teaching recently but am too busy over the next few weeks to get it done. Meanwhile, our family is preparing to leave for a week on the trip from OBG. We will leave and come back to new and improved home. It is impossible for us to comprehend all that is going on right now. Grandma Sue is coming to stay with us during the next week, and we are all excited about that! The kids are doing well in school. They have friends and keep busy with soccer and going on playdates. John is doing well with school and he only has around 75 days until he his done with his Master's. Yippee! He also was made the Elder's quoroum president in Jan so he is keeping busy. That's about all for now.

MEET THE THILL FAMILY...ALL 16 OF THEM! John and Cayce Thill have two biological children, have fostered 32, and adopted ten from foster care. Many of these children have special needs due to neglect, abuse or drug addiction. The Thill’s have a positive impact on both the child from foster care and the birth parent. Cayce personally works with birth parents who are struggling, teaching parenting and coping skills to help them get their children back. Recently, the Thill’s returned an 18-month old baby to her mother and continues to support the mom by babysitting while she is at work or needs a break. As foster parents, John and Cayce understand the importance of finding time to re-charge individually as well as spend quality time together as a family. This can be difficult with the demands of a large family and limited resources. So John came up with the idea of a week long Foster Family Retreat funded by private donations. He worked with the Utah Foster Care Foundation and the first retreat was launched in the fall of 2003 at BYU Aspen Grove where John works as a chef. The camp was a huge success and has become an annual event with over 400 people who are able to attend. One family says this retreat helped their child from foster care to finally bond and open up to the family. Another says the retreat allowed them to re-charge and helped them decide to re-license as foster parents. The Thill’s are providing what children in foster care throughout Utah need the most: families who will keep brothers and sisters together, adopting children from a variety of cultural backgrounds and supporting birth parents who are working to have their children returned to them. How do their two biological children feel about all this? Their 15-year old Kodey says she didn’t realize just how much she could love until these children came into their home. And Josh has a soft spot for his younger siblings, allowing his 3-year old sister to call him “Joshy,” which is not acceptable by any other friend or family member. The Thill’s dream is to have a dining area and table large enough that all 16 members of the family can sit down and eat dinner together.





'Oprah's Big Give' helps Orem foster family

OREM, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Oprah Winfrey’s new show, Oprah’s Big Give, challenges ten contestants to make dreams come true for total strangers. She challenged ABC 4 to do the same in our own community, taking ten-thousand dollars from Oprah, and making it so much more! So, the first order of business was to find and organization, project, or person doing something extraordinary in Utah who could really use some help. We received hundreds of truly great ideas. After careful consideration the winner was the Thill family, nominated by the Utah Foster Care Foundation of Utah! John and Cayce Thill have two biological children and have adopted fourteen from the foster care program…but that’s not all…over the years they have been the foster parents of 32 children! When the Utah Foster Care Foundation asked them what they wanted more than anything else, they asked for enough space and a big enough table to accommodate their very large family. (Right now, they have a fold up table that they put up and down for every meal. They have to move living room furniture to get everybody to the table at one time.) They believe that a family that eats breakfast, and dinner, together can work through just about any problem. Studies back up their intuition. It has been shown that families that dine together have fewer problems with drug abuse and the children get better grades! In the coming days you will see more of the Thill family as many people in our community come together to make their simple but meaningful wish a reality. We have been very busy lately, working on our house. We got a new bathroom floor, carpet, and rock on the front, courtesy of www.utahmasons.com The rock will be done by tomorrow. It has been fun to see the changes in our home. I am so happy with the work. We still have a long way to go but we will get there over the next few years. I have started being a substitute teacher. Last week, I subbed for kindergarten. Today, it was 2nd grade. i had so much fun. I do have a lot of areas to mprove in but overall I think I did alright. John is going to be done with school in June. We are so excited about that! We had a very fun easter. We had an egg hunt and lots of jelly beans and chocolate. We had a good family night tonight. It is fun to see the kids all growing and learning about the Savior. That is about all I can say for now. I am so exhausted and need to go to bed.

Here's the newset picture of Katie, in between lots of tantrums, and watching her siblings perform at school. Well, another exciting week here. Our dear friend SuEllyn Mortenson passed away this week. It was parent teacher conferences...2 hours 8 teachers. We also had court to attend for 2 days as we were wrapping up our permancy hearing. the verdict is....we get to adopt the kids. We will post the adoption when it happens but, as of now it will probably be in April. This is so great! there will also be a few name changes to deal with...Alberto will be Jacob Albert, Andres will be Andrew Lang, Anahi will be Lydia Rebekah and Abel will be Benjamin Abel. How cool is that!? We only have the usual stuff going on the month however, with easter being on the 23rd I had to work hard to start all of the Easter baskets. We have also been planning our trips from April to December. As soon as the are finialized, we will post them to see if we will be in anyone's neighborhood. Well, it is Sunday, and I need to finish the Hawaiian Haystacks and dinner rolls.

Thought you would enjoy seeing a little of our Christmas. It has been a little while since I have written. That is because I was in Michigan by myself for a week. I had a great time and I was able to see all of my family. Many of whom, I hadn't seen in 4+ years. John stayed home watching the kids. This was the first time I had ever been away from my family, on my own. I have to say although there were parts I enjoyed I realized how important my role as a wife and mother are. Nathan told me that he was glad I was back because I hold the family together. We are still trying to work oursleves back inot our "well-oiled" system. After I got home, EVERYONE got the flu. Can you imagine? Now we are just lingering through coughs, runny noses and such. Well, I just wanted to write a new post so that everyone realized I am still plugging away at this site. So far, the idea hasn't caught on with anyone else in my family as I had hoped so, you will just have to continue to listen to me.
